Job Responsibilities:

Compound and Plaster Development Engineer will work and develop the industrial plaster and compound products for Knauf Plaster Thailand and APAC compound products, to implement new products and innovation for these product categories in markets served by Knauf, including enhance product quality for customer satisfaction.

Safety:

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by upholding safety as a top priority and core value, active participation in training, housekeeping, safety huddles, SOP preparation, audits and emergency response.

New product development and technology:

• Responsible for implementing new product and technology development for jointing, surface and other compound products including Industrial Plaster in line with business strategies across the regions.

• Coordinating with lab personnel and other functions to execute said projects.

• Tasks relating to evaluation of new or alternative raw materials.

• Development of new products for different market segments

Operations excellence:

• Coordinate projects for maintenance of business. Activities here include but are not limited to raw material evaluations, cost reduction initiatives, formulation optimization, development of test procedures and QA programs, and competitive benchmarking.

• Coordinate with other functions including manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain.

• Working in a team in improving processing methods and technology to improve quality or cost position for the business.

• Coordination with Iphofen on regional/global projects in the plasters area

• Supporting customer visits with the sales teams to better understand requirements and applications.

Knowledge resource for Knauf:

• Possess a thorough understanding of products, formulations, test procedures and product attributes.

• Think outside the box on product and technologies and promote culture of innovation.

IP Protection:

• Ensuring all IP protection protocols are followed.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering or science, in the field of Chemical, Materials, Civil or Chemistry.

• Knowledgeable on product requirements, industry standards, market requirements and competitive landscape.

• Strong preference for candidate with prior R&D experience either in commercial or university setting.

• Knowledgeable on raw material and suppliers.

• Managerial skill and communication skill.

• Computer skills; proficiency in MS Office. Data analysis program is advantage.

• Good command of English.

• Energetic and self-starter with a curious mind to understand why and how to solve challenges in the business.

• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a wider team with many stakeholders.

• Initiative to keep updated on developments in the industry and within Knauf Group on technological advancements that could be implemented in the Knauf Plasters business.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of R&D/Process/Quality experience in the gypsum building materials industry.

• Exposure in various parts of gypsum and compound product and process is preferred.
